BATCH 9

PURPOSE OF PRACTICUM

This Southeast Asian Teachers Program or the SEA Teacher gives an opportunity to enhance the pre-service teaching career, aims to be equipped in English communication skills, and become a globally competitive teacher.
This project build connection and linkages among Southeast Asian Countries where exchange student can share educational system, cultures, values, traditions and norms. It persuades every pre-service student teacher to develop along their teaching skills and pedagogy and gain a broader view about education worldwide. Lastly, it taught me to versatile at all times to cater the educational needs of the learners abroad.

PROCEDURE OF PRACTICUM

For almost one month of staying in Thailand is worth to remember. The receiving universities deploy us into the Demonstration School and assigned mentors for us to be evaluated, monitored, and guided in our practice teaching journey. They be given us of two days observation and the remaining weeks are our practice teaching, field trip and tours in every places.

OUTCOMES OF PRACTICUM

This practicum contributes a lot to my professional development and personality. The following are the outcomes of what I get and learn all throughout the practicum.

Improvement of English communication skills through mingling other people as well as to learn their native language too.
Acquired necessary knowledge, values, and skills to be globally competitive teacher.
Learn cultural diversity, traditions, values, and norms to increase awareness globally and regionally.
Create connections within the partnership of both institutions or countries to cater lapses into innovations and improvements.
Will be able to understand deeper the value of teaching in passion and in heart.
Build friendship and social life abroad.

CHALLENGES OF PRACTICUM

I believe that every experience has its own ups and downs. Let us embrace that downs to be better and create great impact with our ups. The most challenging I encountered was the language barrier. Most of the Thai people cannot speak English language so, I used to speak slowly and basic as I can especially in delivering your topic to the learners. However, we are learning from their native language, and they are learning also from our language. In addition, we felt the cultural and weather shock but, as time as goes by, I fell in love with their cultures, traditions, and the country.

OVERALL IMPRESSION

It was a big privilege and opportunity to be included in Southeast Asian Teachers Family as Batch 9. I was so grateful and overwhelming with this program. It opens new door for us and give remarkable journey in my college experiences, shape my professionalism and personality to be out from my comfort zone towards the best version of who we are right now and fulfill our mission as future mentor of the young generations. To engage with cultural differences and diversity create unity and hopes among SEA countries.

SUGGESTIONS FOR FUTURE IMPROVEMENT

I am looking forward to having more participants in different SEA countries to encourage student teachers to engage themselves in pre-service teaching abroad. Cater some financial assistance to the delegates to lessen their expenses and be determined to strive harder and well in developing their skills, knowledge, and values.
